If you found an old screenshot showing El Al awards for 40,000 Alaska miles, stop. That booking path is dead. Alaska ended its El Al partnership in 2024, and the current Atmos Rewards partner list does not include El Al.
Atmos Rewards cannot book new El Al awards. Do not transfer Bilt points to Atmos for this purpose. Search Flying Blue and Qantas instead.
Why the old guides look convincing
Alaska Mileage Plan added El Al awards in December 2022. For a short period, Alaska showed El Al flights online with variable prices, and several points sites published screenshots. Then the partnership ended. AwardWallet updated its guide to say travel after July 31, 2024 no longer earned Alaska miles, and Alaska stopped offering new El Al awards.
The internet still has all the old prices. They are historical, not a hidden sweet spot.
Ranked: what to use instead
-
Flying Blue - best replacement for most people. Flying Blue can book El Al partner awards and accepts transfers from Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi, and Bilt. If you were about to move Bilt points to Atmos, this is the redirect.
-
Qantas Frequent Flyer - fixed-chart comparison. Qantas remains an El Al partner and takes Amex, Capital One, and Citi. Search the exact flight before transferring. The full process is in the Qantas trick guide.
-
United or Aeroplan - if the goal is Israel, not specifically El Al. United serves Newark-Tel Aviv and Aeroplan can book partner space on United and Star Alliance connections. Chase and Bilt transfer to United; Amex, Chase, Capital One, and Bilt transfer to Aeroplan.
-
El Al Matmid - only when you already have the points. No major U.S. bank currently transfers directly to Matmid. Use it when your balance comes from El Al flying or an Israeli card, not as a flexible-points plan.
The Bilt trap
Bilt’s official transfer list correctly shows Atmos Rewards at 1:1. It also shows Flying Blue, United, Aeroplan, and LifeMiles at 1:1. The presence of Atmos on Bilt’s list says Bilt can move points there; it does not say Atmos can book El Al.
For Israel, keep the Bilt points flexible until you find a seat:
- El Al seat: transfer to Flying Blue.
- United Newark nonstop: compare United and Aeroplan.
- Star Alliance connection: compare Aeroplan and LifeMiles.
The Bilt-to-Israel guide has the full search order.
What Atmos is still good for
Atmos remains useful for Alaska, Hawaiian, and its current airline partners. The issue is narrow: El Al is no longer one of them. Do not burn or abandon an Atmos balance; use it where the current partner list supports the flight you want.
