A lie-flat seat to Tel Aviv is where points stop being a hobby and start being a lifestyle. Eleven hours each way, and yom tov cash fares in business can clear five figures round trip. The good news: there are five real paths, and one of them almost always has a seat.
For a nonstop: United saver space at 80,000 miles (Chase points, and you need a United card or status to see the best space). For the lowest mileage price: Avianca LifeMiles from roughly 63,000 via Europe (best case; many routings price closer to 90,000). For El Al itself: Qantas at a 90,000-point chart price from New York - when El Al releases business space to Qantas at all, which it barely has since late 2024. Compare all five below before you move a single point.
The five real options, compared
1. United Polaris via MileagePlus - the nonstop saver play
- Price: 80,000 miles one-way at saver level, about $5.60 in taxes
- The catch: expanded saver space is only visible if you hold a United credit card or elite status (DansDeals confirmed this became permanent). No card? You will see dynamic prices that climb well past 100,000.
- Transfers from: Chase Ultimate Rewards and Bilt Rewards at 1:1. No Amex, no Citi.
- Best for: anyone with a Chase setup and a United card in the family.
2. Avianca LifeMiles - the mileage-floor play
- Price: roughly 63,000-90,000 miles one-way on Star Alliance partners via Europe (63,000 is the best-case floor through Lufthansa; Tel Aviv routings often price higher), with very low fees
- The catch: LifeMiles’ website is famously temperamental, and the connection adds hours.
- Transfers from: Amex, Capital One, Citi, and Bilt at 1:1 - notably not Chase.
- Best for: flexible travelers chasing the absolute lowest points price.
3. Air Canada Aeroplan - the reliable middle
- Price: around 90,000 points one-way at the standard level on partners via Europe - dynamic pricing can climb past 130,000 on busy dates - plus carrier surcharges on some airlines (Lufthansa and Austrian pass through a few hundred dollars)
- Transfers from: Amex, Chase, Capital One, and Bilt at 1:1.
- Best for: most people - broad transfer support, sane website, real award space.
4. Flying Blue - the wildcard
- Price: highly variable. When Israel prices in Flying Blue’s Europe zone - as it does as of September 2026 - business class can start in the mid-50,000s. When Flying Blue moves Israel to the Middle East zone (it has, more than once), the same seat jumps to around 85,000. Monthly Promo Rewards can stack on top.
- Transfers from: Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi, and Bilt at 1:1.
- Best for: deal hunters who check prices monthly and pounce.
5. El Al business via Qantas - the only way onto El Al metal with card points
- Price: 90,000 points one-way from New York on the current (post-August 2025) fixed chart
- The catch: since late 2024 El Al has released almost no US-Israel business partner space to Qantas. The price is real; the seat is the unicorn. Set alerts and pounce if space returns.

A word on timing
Business saver space to Israel follows a pattern: it appears either very early (10-11 months out, when schedules open) or very late (the final two weeks, when airlines release unsold seats). Yom tov weeks are the exception - those seats get grabbed the day they load. If Sukkos or Pesach is the goal, treat the schedule-open date like a chasunah hall deposit: know it, and be ready.
